Hidden in the alleyways of the Traders Village, Houston, is a fantastic little hi-fi shop full of the most intriguing goodies, called Sounds Good to Me!, run by Gary Reiser. Lurking in there was a pair of legendary Genesis II.5 panel speakers, designed by Arnie Nudell of Infinity fame. Gary very kindly set them up for me to listen to, with some rather lovely source and amplification equipment to go with them.
Genesis II.5 speakers.
Mark Levinson #31 CD transport (with motorised lid) and Outlaw model 990 digital preamp.
Krell FPB 300 power amp.
The speakers sounded wonderfully transparent in that easy, detailed style of good panel speakers, with a soundstage to die for despite the clutter around them.
The shop is a cavern of wonders and there's some serious kit available at all times, take a look at the Featured Components. They even had a JBL Paragon at one point! Oh, and I spotted some British Wharfedale W70s.
Thank you very much, Gary. Sounds Good to Me! website

There were loads and loads of high quality reel to reel decks, enough to give Nick a heart attack!
You would have loved that ML transport to go with your amps.

You would have loved that ML transport to go with your amps. I would! I came close to going for the Levinson 390 cd player but I got frightened off by reports of it being fussy with some discs due to that very slim tray. The big old top loader would have none of those problems. That was the only reason I went for the Accuphase.

I came close to going for the Levinson 390 cd player Once upon a time, so did I! Then I bought a Sony SCD-1 instead, which itself was one hell of a machine.
