I am now on the search for speakers again. I been looking at Larsen 4.3 speakers.Or should I save up a bit more and look for a pair Larsen 6 speakers? Has anybody heard them in the flesh? I like the idea that they can go right up against the wall.

I heard speakers like these and gave a nice sense of ambiance However hear them first as imho getting the right speakers for yourself is critical

The Larsen do look interesting.
"With uniform sound radiation in all relevant directions, the perceived sound will not change in different rooms, if you sit down or stand up, not even if you go close to the loudspeaker and stand in front of it."
This would be a major plus for me. Both must be worth an audition.
My Sonus Faber work well against the wall with their front port but sound very different the moment you move from the listening position.

Plus I don't like having to have speakers halfway out in a smallish living room.

I have heard a couple of pairs, but the model numbers are way beyond my memory, I'm afraid. Probably irrelevant though, by now as it was quite a few years ago. I have always been interested in speaker designs that diverge from the norm and remember liking the way that the sound was presented in the room.

I was at a dealer demo a few months back and heard both Audio Note and Heco Direkt sounding good near a back wall.

I own the Larsen 6.2 and auditioned the Larsen 4 at home for 3 months. They replaced a pair of KEF LS50 powered by Naim 62/140 hicap + Auralic Vega / Aries. Dac / streamer.
The Larsen 4 are a “value speaker”, who’s clarity, speed, versatility and tone adequate is musical and full range, but they lack in finesse when it comes to retrieving the last recording details that make a song sparkle and jump out of the speakers with. They compare favorably with dozens of speakers I auditioned below the $2000 range. They are a better at full range bass reproduction than most at this range, but fall short in realism and vivaciousness conpared to monitors from B&W or KEF. After 3 months with the Larsen 4, I replaced them with the 6.2 as I found the sound to be a significant downgrade compared to the LS50.
Enter the Larsen 6.2. In my medium size modern apartment, they instantly lit with an expansive soundstage, full range addictive bass and gorgeous acoustic instrument tone. They superseded the Larsen 4 in every way, giving life to any musical genre from electrónica, acoustic instruments, orchestra, vocals and rock / metal.
Compared to the LS50, the Larsen 6.2 have pros and cons that make it harder to choose from. The LS50 render the dynamism (BRAT) of a recording unlike any speaker I’ve ever heard. They have fast immidiate drum/kick which makes electronic and rock recordings explode into life. They also do pinpoint stage realism like the best of them. The Larsen 6.2 have consistently better tone for acoustic string instruments and most organic sounds. The LS50 sound metallic and the Larsen 4 sound muffled in comparison to the Larsen 6.2. Finally the Larsen 6.2 present a convincing stereo image across much of your listening space and the music sounds compelling from nearly anywhere in a space, whereas the LS50 has a small listening window right in front of them to deliver realism of stage.
Between the Larsen 4 and the Larsen 6.2 it’s a clear choice: if you can afford them AND can afford top notch amplification as well as source electronics there’s no question, get the upgrade.
Compared to the LS50 (first version, I haven’t heard the “meta” upgrade which allegedly improves the metallic tone) or other British monitors the Larsen 6.2 are better room speakers and worst studio speakers in my opinion. They have extraordinary tone, full range extension down to room shaking low frequency bass and delicate detail representation of any music genre, coupled with an expansive sound stage from nearly anywhere in the room. However if you’re comparing them with top monitors, they lack the state of the art BRAT of the LS50 or the fragile low volume intimacy of single driver (full range) monitors at close range.
I have sold my LS50 and Larsen 4s and have kept the Larsen 6.2 my main system and the Blumenstein Marlins (w/ sub) as an intimate quiet listening monitor system.
