The Blue Danube is one of a series of waltzes composed by Johann Strauss in 1866. Being a waltz, it is intended for dancing to, and is the most well-known of all the waltzes. It was famously used for the spaceships 'dancing' in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, so memorable that you could almost believe the music was written for it. I have chosen the excellent performance by Lorin Maazel and the Vienna PO. open.qobuz.com/track/29501118 Please comment freely. There is no poll but we would like to know how you rate it.
