The Meditation from the opera Thais, written in 1894, by the French composer Massenet is another piece recognised by many, although it's easy to forget its origins in a relatively obscure opera. The beautiful composition is for solo violin and piano. This performance from 2017 by Kinga Augustyn is beautifully played and recorded. open.qobuz.com/track/42867786 Please comment freely. Do you have it available to post here, Paul? It's quite old and it's been messed about with I think. I believe Soundcloud have degraded the quality in an attempt to get people to spend money. It used to sound fine, and I would have uploaded it as a 44.1KHz/320 kbps or possibly a 48KHz/320 kbps file but it now downloads as a 44.1/128 MP3 and is distinctly muddy. FWIW Here it is.

On my phone it says "embedded audio clips not supported on this platform"
I'll see if my Mac can read it.
My son learnt to play this work on violin which was wonderful...
