Synesthesia open.qobuz.com/album/fniy7vnmr7c2b This is exotic, well recorded and with some excellent guitar playing, that just gets better as it goes along. I enjoy music that takes me to places I unable to find words for but enjoy the multitude of feelings and sensations it provokes in me. I discovered this by chance seeing it Tower records and decided to take a chance. I had no expectations of what I would hear but guessed it would be guitar based. This is Canadian guitar player DAVE MARTONE and a virtuoso Indian born guitar player NAVID NIKBAKTHT. This is not a well-known album, due to its exotic nature. For me an album to sink into and take me on a journey The title relates to seeing shapes when you listen to music. It starts off in an Acoustic Alchemy vain, nice acoustic playing but nothing to get excited about. The music starts to build with the playing becoming wilder and exotic as it goes along. I be surprised if anyone else likes it, as just exotic and guitar based

Well I liked it, a lot. Nice chilled out vibe and enjoyed the fusion of Indo-Spanish influences. Really well performed with great flair, think my favourites were the eclectic Conference of the Birds, the insane rework of Rachmaninov's Prelude in C# Minor (one of my most cherished piano works) which is so utterly crazy it has to be believed & admired; and of course the rather epic 14 minute closing track where the electric guitar takes off big time with a Sade-esque cool bass groove and ends in a duel with the acoustic guitar. Smoove.
I would *love* to hear this on my big rig so easy 4/5. Thanks John.

I don't know if this is enough to warrant many repeat listens for me, though it's possible, but it slays. Nice find.
Sultan Ghalbam and Blue are the winners imo. Those 2 will bring me back on another day I believe.
Inquisitive Heart, Conference of Birds, Prelude in C# Minor, Voluptuous Vulcan are are quite cool and definitely impressive.
I'll score this a 4/5 because it may not be my next big obsession but at it's best moments it's awesome.

Superbly performed and recorded. Wonderful picking one or two songs to play, but the whole album becomes too 'samey'.
3/5.

I am quite into guitar music and rather enjoyed this album, at times i was reminded of Andalusian music with an Indo/African vibe, rather good I think. thanks for selecting this one John, I will be listening again and have added to my library on Qobuz. So its 4/5 from me. By the way you might enjoy Al Marconi = Esperanto, open.qobuz.com/album/hc8e3c77plwtb Spotify but you may already know him.

An absolutely solid 4/ 5. It just about falls on the right side of " too much of a good thing," for me, and there's some great technical guitar playing, if a little lacking in "soul" for the most part. I can appreciate it without loving it. A FEW MOEW DETAILSThey also led me to a decent band named KYROS, who have nothing to do with them other than once being called "Synesthesia".

Its a '2 it has some moments' from me, just found i was getting tired of the sound, but had some nice moments, not enough for me to play it again.
