Excellent question Tobias... The R26 sounds superb with the LB, and l believe the A26 responds well as well. lt's a tough one in regards to giving a list of DACs, as the LB is only starting to gather ground in Audiophiles minds, what l can say,it's cheap and vfm. And the reason l sold my AfterDark Clock, as the LB simply sounded better with the R26, don't get wrong the AfterDark improved the R26, but the LB gave a ridiculous in slight in recordings, and precision that you didn't know was on recordings. Thanks for explaining! So R26 is a safe bet with the LB clock but testing it with another Dac´s, and share the findings, could be interesting for many . Are most people here sticking with the R26 streamer functionality also, or do you have separate streamers, also with the LB clock? I understand that some people has and others hasn´t... but i just wanted to understand if there is even more to gain, down the road, by separating the streamer and use LB clock there as well, if buying the R26.

John is your guy if your going R26 streaming route. He uses ifi Zen Stream into the DAC,as l believe the Zen has superior sound streaming wise than the R26 on it's own...l leave the details to John.
TBH Tobias, the LB clock gets recommended mainly when someone has invested in a R26. It really transforms the unit, for what is peanuts in comparison to the price of the unit and other clocks
Of course your quite correct, the LB could possibly transform other DACs with a 10mhz clock input

I believe nicholas has tried his R26 with both internal and external streamers, too?

The internal streamer did not work for me a lot of people like it but are using roon with it. Using bubble I found it two dimensional other people have a different experience I am going to be honest using the LB with any of the Gustard range is putting it close to something like a Rockna DAC Most of us have gone through a lot of DACs so not said lightly

You will need to be careful with other DACs not all will work well with the clock do this at your own risk I use a zen stream with it a really good streamer you need to pay a good bit more to beat it and better power supplies help it s lot

As a curveball suggestion, you could consider a WiiM Pro as a streamer into a DAC if your on a tight budget. Apprantly the App side of things is very good...something a lot of streamers fall short on. l plan to try one in future.

I believe nicholas has tried his R26 with both internal and external streamers, too? That is correct, sir... I acquired an R26 for my office system and briefly used it with a Zen Stream. The R26 was connected to a Gustard U18 media converter and OCK-1 clock. Sounded very good indeed. I was stunned when I used the R26 as a Roon streamer sans the other accoutrement... it sounded simply wonderful streaming with Roon. I believe that I posted that were budget and issue, direct streaming the R26 would forego the cost of a streamer and media converter and still produce and excellent result. A competent clock would remain in both use cases. FWIW, I ditched the Zen Stream and went with a small NUC computer running AudioLinux as, to me, it sounded much better than the Zen. There are many paths to audio satisfaction and the direct streaming R26 should be considered among them.

Is there anyone here who has tried the Bodnar with the Gustard U18? Or has read any reports on this combo?

Is there anyone here who has tried the Bodnar with the Gustard U18? Or has read any reports on this combo? lf your DAC doesn't have clock input, l could see the logic, as l did exactly the same method using my SMSL M400 that didn't have a input,so l ran my U18 from my AfterDark Clock, and there was a noticeable improvement. The only way to know Jules is to pester John when he gets a chance to spin around your way.

I remember hearing Stellabagpus After Dark clock on the U18 and it was a good upgrade. I think there is a good chance it will work well with the U18 Let me know when you are ready Jules

Just noticed this on LB Precision Clock page....
"master clock for audio and video equipment, DACs and studio recording gear"
Was that bit added lately due to a few enquiries from here? Or,I just never noticed it before.
From page...
Examples of use include: 10.000MHz, 1.000MHz or other frequency reference for lab equipment and instrumentation reference for transmitter equipment - HAM rigs, propagation beacons, frequency markers reference for receiving equipment, RTL SDRs (28.8MHz) and band scanners calibration source for radio receivers master clock for audio and video equipment, DACs and studio recording gear

When i reported my findings on the Leo Bodnar on Headfi I got the usual it will not work etc. I had 2 people message me behind the scenes who got the clock and thanked me. But no one else reported their experience. I gave up on the site after that

That's a shame as I find the membership on Head-Fi to be largely positive to experiences with clocks.

It only takes a couple of naysayers on a forum to cancel such discussions. We could fight back but it’s tiresome to go around these loops time and time again.

Agreed, I've given up with a couple of measurement-freaks on the Qobuz forum, no point having any discussions with people who are so entrenched.
