There's always one of these posts on forums, so I thouight I'd kick it off. I told everyone I wanted books, biographies in fact, for Christmas. Let's face it, I'm a bloke, living on my own, with all the clothes/gatgets/whatever, I need (until the next Amazon sale), so, rather than get the usual socks and chocolates and cries of "we didn't know what to get you" I sent out broad "hints". Actually, it was a cross one off and pass it on list , and I've ended up with virtually everythiing on my list. Still, my Birthday's in January, maybe they saved some. Madly, Deeply: The Alan Rickman Diaries Terry Pratchett: A Life With Footnotes: The Official Biography B.B.King: The Authorized Biography Life: (Keith Richards) Charlie's Good Tonight: The Authorised Biography of Charlie Watts: (Paul Sexton) Soul Survivor: The Autobiography: (P .P. Arnold) The Islander: My Life in Music and Beyond: (Chris Blackwell) The Shankly Years: Revolution in Football - Liverpool FC, 1959-74: (Phil Thompson) Life in a Jungle: (Bruce Grobbelaar) and Time and Tide: Charlie Bird (That's from the sister-in-law who's obviously trying to cheer me up with the " final journey" of an Irish broadcaster who died of Motor Neurone disease. Surprisingly it was not on my list ). Non Fiction (actually Christmas presents to myself) Piranesi: Susanna Clarke Night After Night: Phil Rickman

A new-to-me (ie used) smallish, cubical aquarium to set up in the studio plus some bits to go with it.

I got an new amp for Christmas. Not a hi-fi one though. My guitar amp is just way too loud for domestic use - it's a 30w Laney transistor amp and if I want to make it sound dirty, then it needs turning up loud enough to be heard in Yorkshire. So my fantastic wife bought me a Vox AC4 C1 12 - 4 watt valve amp combo with a 12" speaker. Annoying the neighbours is still possible, should I wish to!

That's why I settled on a Marshall that's swichable between 5W and 0.5W. I am envious of your 12" Celestion though,as mine only has a 10" Celestion.

The Laney only has a 10" speaker. This little Vox sounds great with the gain turned up, as I had hoped. I'll miss the spring reverb in the Laney though.

I got a Christmas card - with $100 in it. Some gloves and an LED wearable head lamp/light and also a quality flannel jacket.
Tbh the best items in my wardrobe are the ones picked out for me on Christmas lol so it's very nice.

So Santa left me the best gift of all this year - a sock full of coal. Now I can enjoy a little warmth in the house.
