I'm an old fashioned kind of guy. Growing my own food is very appealing. I do grow some things (-apart from wheat, barley and oats ) mostly stuff that looks after itself, doesn't need constant attention and pests leave alone. That leaves onions and garlic Everything else gets eaten by something or other. Nothing disappoints like a failed crop.

The idea of no dig gardening has been around a while. If soil has a large amount of organic matter in it thre is less compaction. Compaction is the enemy of no dig. Lots of organic matter and letting the worms do the aeration is the key.
Cultivation gets air into the soil which actually speeds up the break down of organic matter. And sandy soil actually compacts easier than clay and doesn't hold on to nutrients as well.
Growing stuff is my thing . Could bore you all day.

We have been growing different peppers in pots this year. Quite a good harvest.

The only food I have ever grown successfully is chilli peppers. My goodness, they had some heat. I made a chilli/garlic/ginger chutney from them. Delicious!

I got some seeds of three of the hottest peppers found on the islands in the Caribbean and on the South American mainland. I am trying to get a couple of other varieties as well.
