I need a little help info please. My system consists of Goldnote valore 425 plus turntable, goldnote Vasari red mm cartridge,Triangle cometè 40th anniversary speakers. I have recently bought a Primaluna evo 100 integrated amplifier. I need a phono stage. This is where your help, advice and expertise comes in. What phono stage should I buy that doesn't break the bank that will cater for mm/mc. Something for about £500 new or used? Thank you.
Sorry posted this in another area please feel free to delete in the wrong area. Regards

Graham Slee comes to mind but I've been out of the vinyl scene for a while now.

I'm a bit out of touch with vinyl but Graham Slee are good and I believe they have loan units available via their forum.
Obvious choice would be a Trichord Dino - highly adjustable settings for MM + MC and various power supply options you can upgrade with.
Puresound P10 is a very good tube stage but you need a SUT or head amp to use with MC.

NVA are a bit of a bargain. Not sure what else I can recommend. Some think the Arkless photo stage is good but not personally heard it. Avoid the Naim offerings - easily beaten.

The Pro-Ject looks good, and discrete transistors should make a better stage than op-amps.

Heard at the same time Agreed Interesting. Some on pfm think its awesome. I don't have any inclination to try it. The Arkless phono stage that really IS good is his version of the Paradise. Don't know if he still makes them but they are a lot more than £500.

If you want to use MC cartridge You would have to pay a lot of money to improve on these Reslo microphone transformers. Within a shielded mumetal cylinder is a nickel ei transformer wound by Wear and Wright usually shortened to Wearite

You see them for sale in UK in singles for areslo Mikes, like the Beetles used. About £100, you need two. Mono tape recorders had them built in to imcrophone input. Thats the cheapest way to buy them, buy scrap reel to reel mono tapes.
