How long does it take for your system to reach its full potential after you've switched it on? When I'm using the Levinson power amps, it's about 20 minutes but a little longer when I've got the Radford wired in. I have an LFD phono stage that takes a looooong time to stop sounding thin and lifeless if it's been turned off for an appreciable length of time. It doesn't have a power switch so it's not so easy to switch it off by mistake! When I say it takes a long time to warm up, I mean at least a week. What's that all about then?

I don't fuss myself over such matters, after all there isn't much one can do except maybe sell what you don't like.

From stone cold, a full 24 hours. Which is why I leave my system idling unless I'm away on holiday.

Noticeable improvements up to 1.5 hours from cold after being off half a day
Not able to test sensibly after that I leave my kit on too

Sounds great from switch-on.

Warm up time is impossible to verify [ you cant isolate the variable ] . As such all it can be is a vague feeling that it sounds better after a period of time . It is one of those things people should not bother to think about.

I wanted to know, and prefer all electrical items off when not in use so my axe was set to grind in favour of all staying off.
Found noticeable differences from cold up to 1 and a half hours. Two hours negligible, but that was from 30 minutes previous so can't be certain

Actually I should qualify my reply (great from switch-on), because my equipment goes into stand-by mode so is never actually 'off'.

Maybe it's the ears that need to warm up, or maybe the mood. Everything in life seems a bit better when you're in a good mood.

Well . . . no.
The question was asked, and answered. I rarely bring my system up from stone cold, and the reason is that it sounds good, but not spectacular, during the warm-up.

Ditto
You would pay for an upgrade or 3 to get to where it is warmed.
- or leccy of course, easier and cheaper

Thank goodness none of my kit burns much power when idle.
I am always coming in 'lower than equivalent houses' when Eon sends me my usage graphs.

I leave my kit on all the time normally but luckily nothing I own takes more than 20 mins to properly come on song. Now, the only valve amp I've owned was a different story, that took around two hours to settle down.

My Leak Stereo 20 used to take a couple of hours to fully come on song, the Chord needs 24 hours. Go figure!

Be interested to see what a supplier thinks of our electric consumption. BG don't and likely to get swapped next renewal

I got a good deal with BG, at the time, and was too busy to stop auto renewal
