Surely a trip to France on the Eurostar would quickly sort that out?

Surely a trip to France on the Eurostar would quickly sort that out? Probably, however after long searching I knew where I could get both, it was just my way of indicating rarity. I am on blood thinners after symmetrical blood clots on both lungs due to pneumonia couple of weeks in ICU. At the dinner after the wedding of my Son & daughter-in-law last week I had 2 small weak Greek beers; alcohol & Rivaroxaban is not a good combination, my days of pints of gin & tonic on a summer afternoon (yes really) are history.

I haven't had a nice bottle of Armagnac in a long time - I'd like to indulge.
I gave up buying decent Cognac a long time ago - you used to get a bottle of Courvoisier XO for 50 quid, now it's over 100.

When Brandy was my tipple of choice the landlord of my local kept tempting me with a glass of Hennessy Paradis, except he always waited until the pub had closed, we were having " afters" and it was pointless trying to savour it after battering my palate to death all night, so I kept refusing. He had two bottles, and he eventually put one up as a raffle prize. I didn't win, but I bought it off of the guy who did, for forty quid. It was (and still is) probably the most glorious thing I've ever drunk.

I do have a 1982 Chateau Lynch Bages which I just hope has held up well in less than ideal storage conditions ...

Yikes - Paradis is 1-2k a bottle!! Never had a tipple like that. After squaring up a problem in the late 1960's I was given of Warres 1927 Vintage Port. I would think bloody expensive today.

We'll see about that.
*Cracks open a new bottle of The Kraken Rum*
A new brand I was just introduced to. Let's hear some BB King. Pure magic in the right moment at the right bar.

Boy am I pleased to be proved wrong, especially being the son of a RN stoker on a heavy cruiser & grand son of a stoker on a coal fired submarine (K Class) GD died 3 weeks before I was born. At about 18 months old at Christmas 1950 I drained the glass my Great Grandad had poured of 1950 genuine navy neaters (because of their shifts stokers rum ration was not watered down to prevent storage) I went to a leaving do for a friend my father also knew at a Royal Navy Club dad had Alzheimer's got talking to other ex-matloes as was my friend when they heard that Grandad had 3 K class sink under him he died at 55 from the effects of the fumes/emphysema though still served another 8 years in cluding the 1st RN boat to have a name not just be numbered HMS Pandora N42. I Was given visiting rights when ever I did I was given for dad a Britvic bottle with a good ration of navy rum from the supply that was bought up in bulk when the Royal Navy rum ration was stopped. Having visited Hamburg with my wife a few times I discovered a whole new range of very good Rum's, well worth seeking out if like me your a rum aficionado. No more alas. TAS is like me if it works try it & keep going.
