Ok I was a bit reticent about having this album in Classical Album Choice. It was released on Sony Classical and is solo harp, but the music?? Anyway, let's not get bogged down in genres, have a listen as I think it's an interesting album and I love the harp as both an orchestral and solo instrument.
My favourite tracks are those that are the most eclectic and intriguing, such as Les Marionettes, DAMnation and the title track. A number of tracks have a really sparse and mournful quality to them, almost a soundtrack to some quality Scandi Noir. The one track I dislike is the collab with the ubiquitous Olafur Arnalds - it's far too predictable and derivative. Much more appealing are the tracks with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Iggy Pop! The latter is really quite moving for me and so well conceived.
My personal rating for the album is 4/5.

Thoroughly enjoyable, Jules, so thanks for that. I could imagine quite a lot of it being transposed for piano, and sounding just as good. Another thing I sort of half-expected was a bit of a dip in quality beween the " well known" composers, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ólafur Arnalds, and Ms Meijer's self-composed pieces. It didn't. I was looking forward to saying something clever and funny about including Iggy Pop on a " classical" album, but he has the perfect, careworn, dry-as-dust, voice for that piece, and it was a brilliant way to close the album. Also 4/ 5. After a bit of Googling I see my comment about piano might not be too wide of the mark, as she has an album of Einaudi pieces. More interesting than I expected it to be. Sparse and introspective, it manages to keep the attention. 3/5.

Glad you enjoyed it too Paul. The Iggy Pop comes as quite a surprise but just works so well I think. I haven't checked out any of Ms Meijer's other albums yet.
