It's just a special deal it is not being replaced Ok thanks. Just had a look at the Dac’s over there and noticed the SMSL vmv D3. It uses the PCM1704 Dacs like my Dac. Looks nice, but quite pricey.

Hifigo are also having an 11.11 sale. I have found their customer service to be very good and they will ensure you have no import duties. One thing to note is that there doesn't seem to be any competition between these retailers any more - I don't know what their relationship is but they seem to match each others percentage discounts. hifigo.com/

Indeed, although not my top favouraite BB chip, a few of the very best current dac's in the world use these chips still Trinity audio and CH Precision, must be ife in the old dog yet

I think it is important to mention just how much difference a external clock makes to this unit I now believe any serious DAC should have provision for a external clock

I think I demonstrated that with the X26 Pro on an earlier visit, John.
I wouldn't be without my AfterDark clock, it's part of the system now and isn't going anywhere.
It's great that Gustard make provision for external clocks where so many brands don't.

It's great that Gustard make provision for external clocks where so many brands don't. A clock is a must, l had good success with the AD, but replacing it for a Leo Bodnar really was next level stuff, why who knows? But the Leo Bodnar is an incredible match with the R26,and a fraction on the price of AD. l'm hoping that other members take a punt, on a different DAC with a clock input and report back.

I am not saying don't use a clock on a DDC it certainly makes a difference But as pointed out the LB on the R26 is next level stuff so worth trying whatever clock and DAC people want to use

I to have echo John,l no longer run DDC as such. As good as U18 & Audio GD are, in my view, the LB clock on R26 is another level. That being said the LB it could have a great impact on the U18,l know John tried it on the Audio GD and it didn't seem make any improvement,so it will be a interesting out come.
Actually l only use a cheap Leaf USB reclocker that outputs the l2s to R26. As my PC only has standard USB output,so using the cheap leaf unsures acurate improvement to proceedings.

Fellow R26ers….what firmware version are you using? I’ve not played with the streamer yet so I haven’t updated the firmware, which I believe will be an early version.
I have 1.21 downloaded but not installed. I can also see a 1.4. The 1.4 seems to only contain a Roon update, which isn’t useful for myself. The 1.4 version is significantly smaller than 1.21 (200MB vs 400MB+) so I suspect it might be just a streamer update, not a full firmware update. Any advice on what firmware to go with? I haven’t found 1.3 yet…

I can get bubble and eoon. But bubble is 2 dimensional I spoke to a few people they say Roon is good on it but I don't want to pay the extra for Roon

This is my first post here, but I noticed some of you really seem to dig the R26 and wanted to share some of my thoughts: I have had my R26 for a few months now and I absolutely love it. I mostly listen via LAN with a Fiber Media Converter [FMC] into Roon then into HQPlayer, although I also have a U18 for playing movies, games, etc. I also enjoy using my Puffin Phono Pre to send a digital signal from my TT into the R26. IMO, this DAC is amazing!

Yes, the R26 seems to be flavour of the month around here. Adding an optical link to the proceedings really does lift sound quality to something special.
