Is everyone here using the DDCs employing USB into them? USB can be really good though I find it more variable in quality (noise) than SPDIF. At its best USB I feel can out-run SPDIF and of course, it will support higher data rates. I'm intrigued by the Audio-GD and note that it has an SPDIF input, I wonder how it compares vs USB. Is there a good improvement with SPDIF as well as USB?

Hi Clive - I'm using USB in and AES out on my Gustard. No other option with the input.

They are two really good USB smart style clocks that remove pretty much all of the 'Oh gowd its a usb interface' I have tried one American, one German. Personally I avoid usb as much as possible. However if you feel that files over 192Khz are significantly improved then USB & I2s are for you.
Joolz, we dropped by last time, zero usb and only 44.1Khz files streaming free. Upsampling can give a smoother more open sound that is fleshed out, however is it a case of better or just different?

You need USB for higher resolution than S/PDIF can handle, and also if you want to pass through MQA (or Dolby or THX) for decoding.
For me, it's USB to my DDC as I'm using a Rendu like Jules.

My phono stage is spdif (yes, really!). You won't be complaining about the Mobile Fidelity digital mastering scandal, then! True…though I rarely buy new records anyway. I have enough records, anything new to me tends streamed from Qobuz unless instead I’m buying 50s / 60 mono jazz on the black stuff. Re the phono stage, I defy anyone to say whether it sounds digital or analogue. It’s simply very good!

Have got the DI-20HE running. It is used, so no burning in required.
Plugged in the modded network switch Cisso SG110D with Teradak LPS. Triode Wire Labs Ethernet cables. Mad Scientist Black Magic Ultra USB cable. Add Powr Symphony Pro.
Then an old Atlas coax cable to SEG to headphone out with Grado RS1 headphones. 24/96 Hi Res music. And Qobuz.
Listening to tracks from Remain in Light (Talking Heads), an album I know very well, although have not listened critically for a long time. Holy Sh*t. This is the album as I remember it on the surface But there is so much more information being transmitted.
Incredible!

If you want an AudioGD DI20HE order it fast. News from the Head-Fi forum is they're being discontinued due to the high cost of FPGAs.
