Following a Jan Hammer rabbit, from Mahavishnu Orchestra down a rabbit hole brought me to Oh Yeah!
One of my favourite albums of all time and presented here for your delectation
The pinnacle of his solo and own band career for me.
Lots going on and I always used to take it as a wonderful mash up masterpiece. However recent upgrades have separated out the instruments hugely and made it a quite different album. An album I also thought to be average production until fairly recently. The system upgrades now separate the instruments, the same instruments on different channels, the call and answer of the keyboards and violin clarified. Great percussion and drums
The way the band plays together is superb. A perfect machine
Jan Hammer Electric Piano, Synthesizer, Steve Kindler Violin, Fernando Saunders Bass, Vocals, David Earle Johnson Congas, Percussion, Tony Smith Drums, Vocals
Had it in my car played constantly with 5 or 6 other albums for a couple of years, keeps popping up in my album playlist and stays around for a long time
Melodies is similar and worth a listen.
Live with Jeff Beck is more or less essential but this is the best.
Like Children with the excellent Jerry Goodman is close to essential
Black Sheep is well worth a listen
Hammer's TV work with Miami Vice and others is different style of music completely
