I have just been given a systemdek iix with oval shape arm board. I need to fit a tonearm. Any particular type that are good for this turntable at a cheap reasonable price? Thanks

Oval shape - do you mean SME fit? There are a few arms from different vendors with SME mounting.

Rega RB250 or 300 is the classic combo with this deck.

The reason he hasn't replied to that post will be that he's had to go and have a bit of a lie down, then book himself onto an anger management course.

It's a really good turntable that can perform beyond expectations.

That armboard will be cut for the Audio Technica / Linn geometry according to what was there before. I am sure you can still get an alternative but it would be simple to cut your own if you have the tools to do it - use the old one as a template for the outside and a few minutes measuring and marking out will find the spot to drill a Rega sized hole if you wanted to follow Jules' sensible observation.

The piece of crap Helius arm I detested was an Aureus, although the total lack of build quality was probably common to all their products.

Well, I knew that, but since the Scorpio was cheaper, I can't see it being any better.

My friend who gave it to me said the Helios arm was shite ,so he took it off and put it in the bin :/

Do you know anyone local who could help out? It's not actually as difficult as it sounds - I managed it having printed out an alignment protractor from Vinyl Engine ... www.vinylengine.com/tools.shtml

A pre-cut armboard will cost you about £35 or so.
