The "Gaming" prom sound interesting, and #37 looks like it could be quite good. Dare I mention #49? #50 would be my first choice.

#50 is on my list. Might take the boy to the 'gaming' Prom - he was surprised by the choice of Battlefield 2042 music as the game itself is apparently very unpopular with fans of the series ... And no of course you can't mention 'he who should not be named' but appreciate your diplomatic tact and discretion in this troubling and unsavoury matter ...

#17 and #18 look interesting as does #65.

God forbid that they should move with the times and try to widen the appeal of the Proms, and attract new audiences (and revenue streams). I mean, it's totally going against everything the Proms stand for. They'll be opening up alternate venues next, and holding concerts in the outdoors, not to mention playing music (if one can call it that) written by people who don't even have the good taste and decency to be dead yet.

Pre pandemic I had a regular 40 minute Saturday evening drive home that coincided with Classic FM's gaming music programme. There was some superb "classical music" played!

The SD article has a deliberately misleading and innacurate headline, which is just pathetic clickbait for people who get riled up over such issues.
There's a huge amount of 'traditional' classical in this year's programme and I note some sensible comments on the article along those lines along with the usual suspects...

One gaming music Prom and the classical music world is about to end for some ...

Looks like I have found some decent concerts - my Proms Planner is up to £283.20 and that's in cheaper seats ...

One gaming music Prom and the classical music world is about to end for some ... (They) must ahve been positively apoplectic when the Dr Who Prom was announced, all those years ago, now. I suggest that they all be made to watch/listen to "Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide To The Orchestra," and forced to damn well enjoy it too.

Congratulations to the RAH for organising a seamless online booking experience for the Proms this morning.
It opened at 9am and if you are on the site then you get allocated a random place in the queue. I had just 2.5k punters ahead of me and I had my tickets by 9.40.
I got the three Proms I wanted - 35, 62 and 71. Very excited to be seeing Ms Yuja Wang playing Liszt!

MartinT I think that Fountains of Rome is part of the TV Prom tonight from 8pm on BBC Four. Also includes The Sorcerer's Apprentice which is normally great fun.

Ah, Respighi. What a composer, I don't think he gets all the respect he deserves. Transcendent music, for me the Halle took off in the 3rd and 4th movements, some wonderful moments there ...

MartinT I think that Fountains of Rome is part of the TV Prom tonight from 8pm on BBC Four. Also includes The Sorcerer's Apprentice which is normally great fun. I finally got to watch it. He really was a special composer, very filmic before the time of Hollywood. His depiction of water is exactly as the presenters described, multi-faceted. I love his full use of orchestra and use of organ. If you like the Fountains you should try the Pines and also Church Windows.
