Whoa, VERY closely mic'd piano opening. It's kinda ambient noodling and could easily be incidental music for a drama. I don't really know what to make of it, it's not as compelling as some similar music, very much for background rather than attentive listening - I gave up after a while. There's what sounds like rumble between tracks. 2/5.

Congrats Jerry, you have found me some 'contemporary' I really like!
I enjoyed the music, the innovation and fine performance; got through it in one sitting so easily held my attention. It has excellent potential to sound great on my system too. It has to be "Weird but wonderful" and have added to my library.
But, it's crucial to read the background to it -
< ECARTELE is an imaginary soundtrack for a feature film dating from the 1970s about the meeting between two of the major thinkers of the 20th century – the Nobel Prize winning physicist Wolfgang Pauli and the psychoanalyst and creator of the theory of archetypes, Carl Gustav Jung. The album relates in musical terms the story of the unusual friendship between the two scientists and explores the mysterious grey area between physics and the psychology of the unconscious. >
What a clever and interesting concept!
Certainly a most talented composer.
How did you come across this Jerry?

Amazing. We'll get you onto Philip Glass yet! Hint - try his masterwork (imo) Akhnaten.

I was chasing down a Spotify rabbit hole having come across the Szymanowski String Quartet playing a Bacewicz piece. They feature on this album, too.
Streaming rabbit holes are an amazing way of discovering new music!

" There's what sounds like rumble between tracks. Yes, unfortunately the twunks have overlaid some 'vinyl sounds', something that is (hopefully was) very popular with some contemporary artists across lots of genres for reasons that completely elude me. I find it hugely irritating.

I'd be interested to see what the boy John makes of this.

4/ 5 and definitely more Harold Budd or Budd/Eno than Michael Nyman this time.

It's a bit of a mixed bag for me. So I give it a 3 but who knows it might grow on me
