There is nothing like a power cable review to divide a crowd...
For many years,l never bothered swapping power cables, remaining a sceptic. However that changed back in the early 2000s, in a moment of weakness, l purchased a DIY cable, l still can remember the improvement and shock that a cable could bring, my Amp at the time was a Pioneer A300R Precision, that was fully modded by Tom Evans....what had l been missing out on.
Fast forward....So l got to the stage, where l could DIY my own cables, however when l purchased my Nord Acoustic 1ET400A Monoblocks, something strange happened that had never experienced, the sound took a backward step,it became thin and brittle, so backward, l returned to the cheap supplied leads.
This has bugged me for a while, and l have held back on changing the cables as l have had been changing lots of components of late. Thankfully MartinT pointed myself in the right direction, l was not willing to go to Micky Mouse prices land, so Martin recommended l emailed MCRU, l explained my issue, and only replied l received was just 'No7' lol..not a man of many worlds then...
So let's cut to the chase, l dropped them into the system, and although they are running in,l am pleased to report that these cables seem to be the real deal, slightly more dynamic, less midrange glare, and a lower noise floor, everything sounds less forced, low end is firmer.
Before l get too carried away, l must point out these are small gains,l still keep the view that cable upgrades are more fine tuning allowing you to achieve full potential out of your components.
So very happy at this end, it's a Yes from myself on MCRU No 7
