Autonomous sensory meridian responseSounds like the sensation I get when listening to wonderful music. So yet another reason ! "a relaxing, often sedative sensation that begins on the scalp and moves down the body. Also known as "brain massage," it's triggered by placid sights and sounds such as whispers, accents, and crackles. "Basically, it feels like the amazing chills you get when someone plays with your hair or traces your back with their fingertips," says Heather Feather, a popular "ASMRtist" with nearly 400,000 YouTube subscribers. The dulcet tones of famed soft-spoken painter Bob Ross are among the most common ASMR triggers. Indeed, "Bob Ross" is among the terms most frequently associated with ASMR—and so are "Heather Feather" and "GentleWhispering," another top ASMRtist on YouTube. more on link .....

Unfortunately I take a sleeping pill every night (advil PM) and I think it's time to stop somehow. Maybe this could help.

I used to suffer from awful sleep Read up on it, made a lot of changes to my life and adopted the mantra
I go to bed to sleep
Much to do and every now and again I mess it up

Thanks, Mike. I have a good feeling about 2022 it's been an interesting year for me already, aside from the terrible things happening in the world.
I think I've taken these pills for decades if I'm honest with myself. This could be the year to stop.
It's actually an unhealthy cycle. Drug induced sleep, wake up groggy so drink coffee. Have to nap after work to sleep off the pill and the coffee.
I've come to believe in human magic. The fact that you're offering advice is a sign to me. It's the universe speaking to me through a person, a friend, about what I can do to help myself. Thanks.
This will be a start.

Been thinking recently about all the things I had just completely wrong and the life I lead now.
The boss says she doesn't have the discipline I have Discipline my arse, self interest and self preservation.
Mostly fixed my sleep problems years ago, before I found out how very important sleep is to us all. Change of diet has helped recently as well as so many things I do
I have so much music to listen to !

I take advil PM but it's still a drug. I'd heard somewhere something that scared me straight regarding the importance sleep. I'd heard on a podcast that your body really counts on that sleep Nightly. If you missed it you never get it back and your body keeps a permanent record of that missed sleep and it's consequences. I've recently received the book 'Why We Sleep' by Matthew Walker. I'm told that it's an important read. Apologies for derailing, if I've done so. This weekend will be an ASMR experience. If I could combine exhaustion from daily workout plus ASMR to avoid sleeping aids I'd be very glad.

That Matthew Walker book is essential reading. Scared me into trying to get 8 hours sleep every night without fail.

Due to some health issues my sleep can be poor, and I'm about to try a supplement, called, Hypnozan based on L-Tryptophan. Needless to say I've done my due diligence, and there seems less bollocks in the advertising than for Melatonin tablets (20mg when the recommended dose is 2 - 4mg, seriously, I don't think so? And they get 5* on Amazon? ) which is why I chose L-Trypyophan. Not cheap, but worth a go at the moment.
