I thought I would try one of these to see if it would both sound good and also allow me to reduce clutter of cables, 4 monoblocks, a passive preamp and 2 large Lifepo4 batteries.
For an amp that outputs 85W into 8 ohms, it is tiny, about the size of 4 CD cases stacked on each other. It has an on-off switch, input selector, a volume control and a minute LED. It comes with a chunky 32V PSU.
I connected it to my X26PRO with a set of "Design a Cable" XLR-TRS cables (input 1) and RCA-TRS cables (input 2)for my AV amps front pre-outs. The volume is set to maximum and I use the X26PRO software volume control. Since the inputs are balanced, the AV amp out is much quieter, so I had to rerun Audyssey to rebalanced the fronts withe the centre and subwoofer.
When I first listened to it, it was harsh, unpleasant and two dimensional. But, after a few days burn in, the harshness was gone and the sound opened out. Compared to my Temples, the bass is much more authorititive but there is a tad less "air" and higher frequencies less prominent, but the sound is detailed and the midrange more forward. There is also no hiss at all from the tweeters when no music is playing.
For the price its very impressive. I have yet to decide whether to replace my Temples with it, but it's certainly close.

Aren't the Temples class D switching, too? Meaning you should already be accustomed to their style of sound.

Amazing VFM, to get close to the excellent Temples is quite an achievement - apparently it measures superbly too ... LOL.

Can the PA5 be mono bridged? Confirmed, no current PA5 mono-block capability to date

I just watched this before seeing your post. He has a point about the TRS which meant I had to shell out for new cables too, but over does it somewhat. Even if the chips are the same in the Ilyama (or whatever its called), I would expect the Topping implementation to be better and I don't need BT or tone controls.

An update on my experience with the PA5. After being away for a week, I listened to it again and decided I really could not put up with the lack of air and treble compared to the Temples, despite the power and bass benefits. Since I was previously been bi-amping (2 monoblocks for each channel) I thought I would try a mix-and-match, with the PA5 feeding the bass/mid (directly from my Gustard) and two Temples feeding the mid/tweeters via my Khozmo passive pre-amp. This arrangement lets me change the output of the Temples. To my surprise, I had to attenuate the Temples to get the right balance (about 2 o'clock on the Khozmo dial), using the Gustard remote to control the overall volume. I now have both the powerful bass and much of the improved midrange of the PA5 plus the air and treble from the Temples. It also works with my AV Amp going via the Khozmo, using Input 2 to the PA5, and re-doing the Audessey set-up. Sadly, I have failed utterly to reduce the clutter (originally goal #1) Sound News recently reviewed the PA5 and although he was generally positive about it, his main quibbles were also on the high-frequency roll-off and imaging.
