Really liked this when I sampled it. First time I played it I was struck by how exquisite it was from track 1 on Expected it to be good but not this good. Fast becoming one of my favourite albums. Geoffrey has been a favourite for many years and he is the main reason I love the sound of the viola, especially the way he plays it. First time I saw him was with Caravan at Reading Uni. 1974. This was after Caravan almost folded and he was one of those brought in. His first ever album and he made quite a mark. Signalling a direction change for Caravan from jazzy prog into more orchestral prog The sound and world of violins or violas beckoned to me. A wonderful gig. One of my best ever. Caravan were on fire and Geoffrey brought a lot to that performance and the band. He has made a few albums on his own – Viola Mon Amour, Moving Up a Cloud, Completeness as well as two great albums with Jim Leverton, The end of the pier show and Poor Man's Rich Man well worth a listen A multi, multi instrumentalist More on his website Geoffrey RichardsonOverview of instruments Viola, Violin, Cello Tenor and G Banjo Mandolin, Mandola Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax Acoustic Guitar Whistles Electric Guitar Keyboards Bass Guitar Kalimba Cuatro, Ukulele, Guitaritta Percussion If you want prefer a CD you can get it here as well as on Ebay. Lots of this album there. Cherry RedGive it a go YouTubeFrom Cherry Red Geoffrey is highly regarded for his distinctive viola and flute playing in the legendary Canterbury band Caravan, but his career has also seen him as a key member of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and as guest musician on countless albums by artists including Bob Geldof, Murray Head and many more. The Garden of Love explores rock, folk and classical influences, playing Violin, Viola, Flute, Cello, Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Ukelele, Banjo, Mandolin, Keyboards, Tenor & Alto Sax and percussion on the twelve tracks comprising the record. A gorgeous album on a rich and deliciously varied musical palate, a sensuous garden to savour. Released 6th November 2015. Track Listing: 1. The garden of love 2. Alleluia 7 3. The downs 4. Scape 5. Lost in love 6. My longest day 7. Half moon 8. England, dear England 9. This winter 10. Butterfly 11. A different point of view 12. A simple farewell

Mike - you've broken Spotify! The link you have provided doesn't work for me and when I search for it, I can find the artist, but not the album.

A very rare(ish) 5/ 5 from me, Mike, I thoroughly enjoyed every note. He is a supremely talented musician, and gets to show it off - without actually showing off - on this album. I had a quick delve while listening and it turns out he was a guest on one of my favourite albums when it was released, Quantum Jump's Barracuda. He's also turned up on several other albums in my collection, or at least that I'm aware of, and have enjoyed. My delving also led me to this, which I've just ordered. www.cherryred.co.uk/product/miniatures-one-two-edited-by-morgan-fisher/

It has great bass lines, the first thing I noted. It's very well recorded, which also helps with the bass. I don't mind his voice and other instrumentation. Not all the songs are memorable, is the only marking down I'd give it.
That bass, though. My Ushers are loving it. 4/5.

Peel played a few miniatures and I think I investigated and left it Will have another listen

Few days back I played it through and had to play it again

An Okay for me. It kind of washed over me as well and didn't keep my attention. I enjoyed the music more than the singing and lyrics that is for sure.
