Hi all,
I now have both Tidal and Qobuz available to stream music through on my Anthem AVM70 Processor. The weird thing is that the processor streams fine with Tidal but I get nothing coming through when I try to stream Qobuz? I made a local enquiry at a stereo store where I was advised that "Tidal sends a 'compressed' signal where as Qobuz is 'not compressed'. That is why the Anthem can process Tidal and not process Qobuz. You will need to buy a Streamer to be able to receive Qobuz".
Now, I would like to know if that is a fact, or whether, he is just trying to sell me a Streamer?
Sorry, I do not understand all the audio lingo very well, so I hope the above makes sense.
Appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
Geoff

It's true that Qobuz streams uncompressed hi-res if you have the full subscription. It is capable of very high sound quality and is my chosen digital source.
Tidal streams MQA which is a combi-stream that can allow hi-res 'unfolding' if you have the right MQA capable equipment. However, it is internally compressed so their claim is a little dubious, although I'll be careful not to say more as they seem to be notoriously litigious. To my ears, in my opinion, Tidal does not sound as good as Qobuz.
As to your question, presumably you already have a streamer (or something) to send the digital stream to the Anthem?

Thank you Martin,
Awesome advice. Yes, you just confirmed my expectations: 1) Qobuz IS BEST, and 2) I need to get a Streamer. Looking at the Bluesound 3RD Gen.
Cheers,
Geoff
