This was, more or less, our signature tune in the final band I played with. We rocked it a little more than this, but it's the version we learned it from, rather than the Ventures'. Our singer was reduced to bruising his legs with a tambourine, which left bass, drums, keyboards, and three guitarists to belt it out. The other significant difference in our version was the ending, where we stopped absolutely together and absolutely dead, hitting the last note as hard and loud as we could while our drummer smashed his bass drum, snare, high-hat, and crash cymbal, grabbing the crash to mute it almost instantaneously. We went from maximum noise to dead silence in a millisecond.
