Thanks, guys. I'm feeling a bit better and I've had some soup. It's chastening to think that I used to feel like that most of the time before my gastroenterologist came up with "Well, there's one last thing we can try..." I think that's why my system does this to me from time to time, it's to remind me that if I start thinking I feel crap, THIS is what "crap" actuially feels like. All I can tell you about the new amp so far is that, like Brian's CDT, it's bloomin' heavy. I'm now going to watch Liverpool's women's side play Aston Villa in the Continental Tyres Cup. The second half may well be watched back in bed.

Lots of bed and you'll know when you're done as the new toy will be beckoning.

Hope you're feeling better soon. And enjoy your evening in bed with, what was it, something about women playing in a rubber bowl?

All the best mate; I can relate to how guts playing up can spoil your day(s) - take care. Thanks. This bout has really laid me low. I'm well over the "symptoms" but I just have no energy whatsoever. The amp is still in its box, leaning against the wall in my hallway. I've got to pretty much strip the whole system down (my current Primare amp is under my CD player, which is under my DAC) to put the new amp in and I really don't want to attempt that at the moment, especially as my temper is probably not all it should be. The bits and pieces are far too expensive to throw across the room in frustration.

Hope you're feeling better soon Paul. Look after yourself, try to stay well hydrated, and have a kip if and when you feel you need one.

I'll have to ge4t my arse into gear now, I've just picked up a Cambridge CXC s2 CD Transport. Sorry, Mike, it's Lunar Grey. As you've probably seen, eBay is doing a mad thing of giving 500 (yes, FIVE HUNDRED) times the stated number of Nectar points for stuff over a tenner, purchased between 12:00 & 13:00 today. Price of transport £249 +£10 carriage Nectar points scored, 250 base plus a bonus of 12250 = 12500 (or £62.50) £259 - £62.50 = £196.50, which I reckon is a decent price. I'd say that was a bargain, and I can always unload the Nectar points when I pay for my online grocery shop. The reason I wanted (and was lucky enough to source) a "Lunar Grey," model was because I thought it would match the colour of the amp better. A minor point, but hey, if it can be achieved with the minimum of effort...

I am trying to work out from this thread if you have actually plugged the amp in yet and listened to it, let alone the CD Transport? Or are you just holding out for a quiet day? By the way how it looks makes no difference to the sound, unless it is encased in concrete.

The amp is still in its box, leaning against the wall in the hallway. The transport was only purchased A few hours ago. I've been a tad unwell of late, nothing serious, just several ongoing health issues all ganging up on me at the same time, which tends to affect my mental health in a negative way, and stuff gets relegated to the back (back...back...) burner. It happens now and then. My "get-up-and-go" has got up and gone. I've got quite a lot of work that needs doing on the system, e.g. installing a new baseboard for the whole thing, which obviously means completely ripping every bit of the old system out and rebuilding it from the ground up, the speaker cable needs changing out, I want to temporarily swap my (wall mounted) speakers too, to see how my MA Silver 2s sound in place of the current Epos ES11s. If they sound appreciably better (as I think they will) I'll be looking for a new pair of those in the new year. I've been putting it off and putting it off with the excuse " well, I really only want to have to do all this once," but I'm fast running out of excuses now. The only one left (and trust me, it is a good one) is I'm not really up to clambering about on stepladders at the mo. My knees are buggered and at times (like now) they make me a bit wobbly on my feet. It's very awkward juggling a relatively heavy speaker and a walking stick at the same time, up a ladder. Of course, to even get to one of the speakers I've got to move a 50" telly, on a floor unit, and then avoid the rats nest of cables behind it (and a subwoofer) when positioning the stepladder... The other other problem is, I've really started to feel my age over the last few months (68 in January) and being fairly unfit to start with. Having also had a year full of problems getting my mum (97 years young) well again after a broken hip and two heart attacks, and into a good nursing home, paperwork, Teams meetings, Teams meetings where people don't turn up, a mountan of paperwork, phone conferences, more bloody Teams meetings... and I'm still waiting for the LPA to be set up so I can access mum's bank avccounts for her. At the moment, in a wonderful bit of role reversal, I'm having to give her pocket money. So, there you go. Far more information than anyone wanted, but that's my excuse, or rather, those are my excuses. for being a lazy fekker. Sympathy (and/or abuse) not requested nor required. It is what it is, and eventually I'll come out the other side. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Help the aged and all that Does that amp go to 11 ? Or 12 even ? That's what we all want to know.
