I've started this thread to keep all important security alerts together. A bumper crop of vulnerability patches have come in from Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, Chromium and others. www.theregister.com/2021/09/15/microsoft_patch_tuesday/These are all pretty serious so get your devices updated ASAP.

Not this time around, Mike, but it's worth going into Settings and Software Update or About Phone and checking that you're up to date. I find that an Android update comes in every 2-3 months (for supported phones).

LOL - my phone was supported for a few weeks after buying then the manufacturer stopped supporting it.

Let's mention LastPass, shall we? I took out a subscription to their "Premium" version and which I believe Martin uses commercially. I can also vouch for NordVPN if you want a bit of privacy, along with ProtonMail which provides a (free for single users) secure email service. Not exactly the type of " security" that this thread was meant to talk about, but they may be useful to some.

We do use LastPass and it's a godsend when there are over 200 passwords to 'remember'.
I suggest turning on MFA for additional security - we use our phones for authenticating access.
Windows 10 has its excellent Defender and for MacOS I recommend Sophos Home AV Free as it's now called.

Sophos used to be clunky but still the choice of corporates.
Their virus research is one of the best in the business. I've had a tour of their HQ with massive screens showing world maps and malware activity superimposed in real time.

We prefer Intego for Macs, especially as they provide a commercial multi-seat version as well as one for home users.

Watch out for the vulnerability patch for Big Sur, if you're still using it.

Major OS VersionsKeep your OS up to date. With the number of vulnerabilities being discovered across all OS, you need to be vigilant. If your version is out of support, take action now (which may involve getting a new machine). Windows 10MacOSAndroidiOS & iPadOSLinux - too many versions to list here
