Out of interest, what does Taylor swift do for other musicians?

I would agree. Eilish is a massive hype job. Her bond theme missed the mark by a few thousand miles too. It's as if they studied all the recent Bond themes, structures, key signatures, chord progressions etc and then programmed them into their computer, pressed a button and out came a Bond theme 5 mins later. In fact I suspect that is quite close to the truth. It's soulless and aimlessly derivative. Her voice irritates me more than Adele's and I can assure you that is a lot.

I would tend to agree Jules. She has received an unwarranted amount of attention as she is only 2 albums in with only one stand out track in my opinion so far.
I guess part of the issue with pop is a lot of it is based on image and stories of music. Time old "pulling yourself up from the bootstraps" and making a rags to riches story come true etc. Brother sister duo and so on. It ticks all the boxes in that respect.

Matt Monro, Sir Macca, Burley Chassis, Sir Tom, them was PROPER Bond themes. Needless to say, Silly Eyelash won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for her's and her brother's effort.

A Grammy??? That tells you all you need to know about the PR machine behind her. An absolute frickin' scandal ... in fact Duran Duran's effort is now sounding like a masterpiece in comparison. But let's remember this Chanel and Gucci wearing 'girl next door' is young, vulnerable and has a lot to say to this generation.

Forget the hype - you're just repeating what we've been told obscures Taylor Swift's talent.
Billie Eilish's album, whether you like it or not, is an amazing achievement in its meticulous construction (by her and her brother) pretty much away from a normal studio. I do think she's talented and couldn't give a monkey's about her private life or her views.

As for Bond themes, the most shaky one for me is by Sheryl Crow, and I normally love her music. The song was completely inappropriate for her style.

Out of interest, what does Taylor swift do for other musicians? This is only one thing she has done, there are many more examples. countrymusichalloffame.org/plan-your-visit/exhibits-activities/family-youth-programs/taylor-swift-education-center/She always has been her own songwriter, Country to start (not Country and Western . . . there's a difference), more mainstream now, but like most extremely talented artists, she continues to evolve. She might be many things, but sell out she's never done, she has always followed her own arrow and her talent as a singer/songwriter is quite remarkable. People might not like her music, but to suggest she is nothing more than a throwaway pop artist shows a lack of understanding about who she actually is and how talented, which is a shame. She started writing songs at 12, released her first album as a 16 year old and is mostly self taught. If you don't like country it might not appeal, but the song writing for a first album is very impressive. A pop juggernaut maybe, but there's a lot more to Taylor than many people give her credit for.

Wow, thanks Tim. That's really interesting to hear. As you say, I've mainly heard her later work when she reached superstardom. It is interesting to know that she writes her own stuff and has a more unique story behind her. I have probably been too quick to dismiss her after "love story" got played to death. I will definitely giver her more of a listen and see what I think. Thanks for the insight. Appreciated. 👍

As I said she’s sold out, I agree early stuff was great, maybe I should listen to the two recent albums but not the stuff in between

]St. Vincent, “Masseducation” (2017) (If only Strange Mercy could make the last 5 years, great album) St Vincent has never really been on my radar but I'll certainly try these two albums ...

Well I'm kind of surprised but I really like 'Masseduction' - an excellent album! Some really strong Prince influences on some of the funkier tracks. Definitely going to raid the back catalogue now.
