Gawd, I feel old.
Just got back from my first ride since I did my back in. That makes it three years or so. Surprisingly, the legs and lungs are not too bad but the poor old heart was hammering away there and the eyes are a bit funny.
Still, the heart has settled quite quickly and as I'm 67, I suppose its not too bad.
One thing I have always hated is sweating. I don't usually. However, in this heat its inevitable of course. The bike has stored very well, Tyres are fine and the gears all work as they should. The bike is a mid range Bianchi - Ronnie has a much better one but then she had the dosh to spend at the time. Weighs about half as much as mine.
Off to the shower I think.

67 is still a young age to be cycling. My uncle left for a training ride aged 74, cycling from Rotterdam to Athens Unfirtunately, he never made it back.

It's a good thing to be doing. I'm addicted - but I can give up at any time

I was hit by an idiot BMW driver who cut me up on a roundabout in Kingston. Very lucky indeed that I saw him out of the corner of an eye and managed to avoid the worst. Otherwise I would also have died I don't doubt. My right arm and shoulder still bear the scars.

Just google "Ian Hibell" and you'll see a few pictures to inspire you.
One of my favourites.

What a surprise. I have a special sensor for BMs. Helps having a mirror on the bars Oddly enough twas a Merc that nearly killed me cutting straight across me My left shoulder still hasn't got over it but I will carry on cycling as long as I can as I love it

Watch out for Audis. According to Clarkson, they are the new cocks on the road.

I have a boring old gentleman's carriage. 20 Valve 1800cc A4.
I no longer need to prove anything on the road so tend to just go where I'm going and cruise.
I do miss some of the Alfas though and I'm quite sure the boy racer would surface should I have the chance to drive one again. However, like Suffolk, round here is farmer country and there is always a tractor, hedge trimmer or cyclist around the corner - actually its usually about 50 cyclists around the corner. All ages, all done up to the nines in dayglow.
The whole village is closed off today as there is a peloton coming through. They think nothing of just closing off the roads. If you want to drive somewhere, tough tittie.
