Grumpy old Rick, with added Nicola Benedetti Max Richter, and Mike Rutherford
Don't be put off, it's an interesting watch, and quite good fun in places.

I'm glad somebody watched it. Interesating, educational, and Rick Wakeman. The dream team.

I enjoyed watching that, thanks Paul.
A few thoughts came to mind...
RW is a very good presenter.
I hadn't fully appreciated that Venice is built on stilts in the middle of a lagoon! Is it really? I'll have to check on that.
I'm feeling a bit guilty that I've got bored with the music.
The Benedetti gel was rather good in her short excerpts!
It's a bit sad and embarrassing that the lady commissioned a bust as a centrepiece for her Vivaldi church memorial that is probably largely based on a portrait of someone else.
I'm with Max Richter in thinking that after decades of familiarity the music needs reimagining to keep it interesting. I don't for a moment believe his bullshit that he went off the original because it's used as a commercial jingle. He just got bored with it, like me, I reckon.
It's got me to put Max Richter's reimagining album back onto my play list. I might even give the turbo charged BIS recording another listen.

The Richter imagining is good and can be thought of as different from, rather than a replacement for, the original.

Yes, I've heard it before. There's a YouTube video as well that I find enlightening as I can understand what is going on more easily.

So your still chasing down your dream version of The Four Seasons then Jerry.

I found a great performance a couple of weeks ago, played on an accordion. But the two main T4S fanboys here didn't seem to appreciate it.

Talented bloke and ahead of his time
4 seasons is ok for me. Clever yes.
Venice is a shit hole. Stinks horribly. Falling apart when I was there in the 70s. Got worse since so far as I know

Venice is a shit hole?
Hmm - was one of the best short breaks I've had. Yes a lot of it is crumbling but is part of the charm for me. Full of history, amazing Renaissance buildings, superb art ... Depends on your interests I guess.

'Here we live on bread and Vivaldi'!
Quite right too. Staggering to think his work all but disappeared for so many years.
Nicky B tells it like it is, spot on. Amazing to hear her technique in isolation.
I love the idea that T4S is the original 'concept album' - that's perfect. It's the only work in my collection which I'm interested in having the number of recordings that I do ...
Some lovely insights in the programme, and really fun too, thanks Paul.

T4S and more with Rachel Podger coming up at the Barbican. Should be very good.
You can watch online but I'm tempted by watching in person.
