To my surprise my neighbour did it himself. Not a DIY type so far as I know Think it was desperation to get a decent bandwidth for 2 of them working from home due to Covid.

Visit to next door neighbour who is still delighted with his Three set up
Poynting XPOL-2 V2 Directional Cross Polarised LTE MIMO Antenna
gives him 50-60Mbps Fixed on the fascia of the 2 floor house
Note "Directional" which points at trees about 100 metres away and goes through even more trees to get to the mast We would be very similar if not the same
I see conflicting advice on Directional and Omni directional. Tempted to get what he has

Well you have evidence that a certain set of hardware works and no knowledge about an alternative type. It seems a simple decision unless you are prepared to try both.

More or less. He has a Huawei router I have a ZTE. Could the slight difference in angle be crucial ?
Plus This is me and tech....

I would agree but there is possible evidence that the ZTE is inferior to the Huawei, which is generally reviewed well and is impressive here. See if Three will swap it?

That was interesting
Took my ZTE router to neighbour next door to try out his Poynting aerial hoping to see a big increase in speed Unplugged his Three Huawei router and plugged in my ZTE 20Mbps Tried it a few times over a few minutes. Varied from 17-22Mbps Changed back to the Huawei 40Mbps
Back home plugged in my ZTE Left it a good 10-15 minutes Phone gave 2Mbps first off, laptop 20Mbps then phone up to 20Mbps

I did suggest the ZTE is not the best router.
The Huawei pulls a terrific signal from not a lot of signal strength and has received many reviews confirming it's a good one.

The Huawei needs to be fast. How else is the Chinese state supposed to spy on your every move!

For some reason my phone doesn't like my mum's Mesh WiFi set up. When I move from one floor to another in the house, it still tries to stay connected to the disc I have moved away from instead of automatically connecting to the new stronger signal - there is a single disc on each floor. Looks like mine is the only phone that has a problem with it. Any ideas why?

According to BT...
Perhaps start there, Jules?

There have been firmware updates for BT Whole Home mesh that 'fixes' Apple devices and their reluctance to roam properly.
Bring it up to the latest firmware release.
EDIT: ours is on v1.02.13 build07

I'm on Android, whilst my mum has recently bought an iPhone which she hasn't reported problems with but I'll check.
I've reset Network Settings as Paul suggested so will see how it goes.
It's still a huge upgrade on the system pre Mesh though!

Switched from Sky broadband who wanted to put the price up a further £2.50, 3 months into my fixed 18 month contract! They wouldn't deal at all this time. They had the previous years.. In spite of my having a 4 year old router, they've never had to touch, I've never invoked any service etc. Money for old rope, had they matched others!
So I exercised my right to leave them, no penalty and switch.
Vodafone guaranteed around 70Meg (same as Sky, SME Open reach HW of course).
Trouble was, although our address is visible on their system (collected from postal service), it said - no broadband available!
The old name of the old cottage that stood here before is still there, and guess what? Broadband is available..!
A call to Vodafone (decent response time and good service), soon sorted that out.
Today was switch day. Sky service died during the night, by 8.30 am I was watching internet TV (Amazon prime) tennis, via lan to the lounge.
Took a bit longer and remembering the settings to config the new bigger Vodafone router as master and old Talktalk as slave (via Cat6e) to get wi-fi over the whole property and lan to the all important RPi for Qobuz😀
We also have a wifi booster in an outbuilding so we can get wi-fi in the. garden & Orangery (posh greenhouse😂).
Pleased with the switch and the £162 saving a year it will yield.
Gotta keep the premium walking sods on their toes. Did the same with car insurance too. Give me a deal, or I walk..
Was always a Vodafone customer for work mobile connection while at Ericsson in the UK, and they were a major customer at the time..

Thanks for the nudge Steve - I've just found out that I'm out of contract with Sky and am paying too much. Today they offered me a 10 quid monthly discount for another 18 month contract - I will most likely take this as the service has been very reliable so far.
