How do I find the different single, standard, jewel CD case thicknesses and strengths ?
Nothing helpful in Google
Handling my CD cases shows really flimsy, slightly stiffer, 'standard' most common then the ones that are dead heavy and solid
Seems to be older CDs that have the most of heavy duty ones

When I was in the same situation I think there were only two types of jewel case on sale; the thick ones with the black insert, the original "Jewel Cases," or those the thin little things of about half the thickness. There are some measurements here, alongside the descriptions - www.riverproaudio.co.uk/searchlist.aspand some info at Wikipedia (where else ) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_disc_packagingGoogle "Optical disc packaging" or even "Optical disc packaging size".

Fairly sure I bought 3 types of plastic jewel case from Riviera and others Side by side they look the same Pick them up and you immediately feel the difference. Don't think they sold the really solid, heavy duty ones. The best even feel heavier. Must weigh them on the kitchen scales... Seems like I could be in this particular rabbit hole on my own We experimented with CD cases for durability and soon settled on the almost indestructible clamshells. Sending CDs in plastic jewel cases to regulatory agencies around the world was pointless as they were guaranteed to arrive broken. If really lucky the CD was also damaged and unusable !

Bill didn't like them !
I thought I was buying CD cases from Vision Media, although they were supplied by a third party: mtxtoys.
These turned out to be a vastly inferior product, by far the flimsiest CD cases I've ever purchased. They arrived in two packs of 25, and the first two I tried to use fell apart in my hand. The rest of the first pack seem ok, but they are so fragile they have to be handled with kid gloves. I'll be very surprised if they stand up to repeated use and I expected better quality from the price. Next time I'll make sure I'm buying directly from Vision Media.
I've picked up quite a few on Freecycle Recently decided not to travel about 15 miles to pick up 300 as Covid paranoid Wish I had

The CD case must be one of the most poorly conceived yet widespread (and therefore successful) inventions, in the history of mankind. I have two of those blue Ikea bags full of empty cases helping the the cluttering up of a spare room.

Agreed
The clamshells have a lot going for them No spines to read but how often can you read a jewel case spine, 1 in 3 maybe ?
I'm hoping to pick up more empty cases on Freecycle to replace those that have slip cases, the ones I buy that are broken in transit or inadequate and the occasional one I drop !
As for the ridiculous twin jewel cases and fat boxes they took the poor design and made it worse
