I gave up watching F1 years ago, it started boring me when win or lose started depending on whose pit stop was fastest. That's by-the-by though, a lot of you guys enjoy it and that's great. Has anyone watched "Extreme E" though? I'm watching a bit on the "Red Button" right now and it looks wonderfully insane. Jensen Button is driving, as is Carlos Sainz. Each "team" comprises a male and a female driver and they swap laps. The beauty, as far as I'm concerned, is that they all use the same car - an ODYSSEY 21 electric SUV - so a huge percentage of the skill is from the drivers, not the pit crews. One part of the desert track I'm watching now has a 100 foot drop at 45o. Yes, they're racing on sand... in Saudi... in the desert.
Jensen is sponsoring and driving for his own team, and Nico Rosberg has a team in the mix, as does Lewis Hamilton but neither is driving.

The website is not the easiest to navigate, but it rewards having a decent look at it. In case you miss it. The green cross at the top right of the site opens a half-decent menu system.
I thought, this was interesting. It was under the heading "Science Team."
They've just mentioned, in fact, that their aim is to actually leave the site in a better condition than they found it in.
Teams will field one male and one female driver, promoting gender equality and a level playing field amongst competitors.
Each driver will complete one lap behind the wheel, with a changeover – the ‘Switch’ incorporated into the race format. The teams will determine which driver goes first to best suit their strategy and driver order selections are made confidentially, with competitors kept in the dark as to other teams’ choices until the cars reach the start-line. Contests between males and females will therefore be ensured. A ‘Hyperdrive’ boost will also be available to each driver on each lap of the race. Activated when the driver presses a button on their steering wheel, they will enjoy an increase in power for a fixed amount of time.

Extreme E’s Scientific Committee, consisting of leading academics from The Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, will advise on the series’ education and research programmes, event logistics and impact as well as the recommendation of positive legacy initiatives which support local communities in each race location.
