I think it's clear to everyone that the best guitar riff bar none is the theme tune from Rhubarb and Custard. I expect it had to be excluded from the list in order that the others be given a chance to be heard.
It's a towering masterpiece of a guitar riff!

I've never been entirely sure what constitutes a guitar riff, but I'm fond of the guitar bit in 'Goodbye to Love' by The Carpenters. If that doesn't count, I'll choose the one in 'There She Goes Again' by the Velvet Underground, which was shamelessly lifted from the one in Marvin Gaye's 'Hitch Hike'.
