Hi folks, I'd appreciate a little help from you if possible. I've owned a Zeta arm since 1990 and have always used Koetsu Blacks on it, so I rarely have had to tinker with the settings. I got myself another one recently and when I came to set it up, I discovered that a vital Allen key that I used to keep in my hifi bits box has gone missing. I need to get into the counterweight in order to adjust the orientation of the sub weights, and without doing that, the counterweight is hanging right at the end of the arm beam. Here are some photos of a similar weight, grabbed from the web. It's those little threaded tinkers that I need to unscrew! The key isn't a metric size and lies somewhere between 2 and 3mm. Does anyone know what size I need?

<ding> I honestly didn't clock that as Koetsu Black!
It's fun doing this in a Starbucks inside a Target in deepest Texas on a phone!

I presume it's 3/32" Chris, at least that's how it is marked in my allen key set. Works out at roughly 2.5mm

Pretty sure (though I can't exactly recall) my 2.5mm key is too small Dave

It's slightly bigger Chris, got both to compare in front of me

OK, thanks for taking the time to look. I'll see if someone local has one I can borrow, and maybe the next size up, whatever that might be.

Thanks Dave, that would be much appreciated. First off though, I'll see what I can do with friends and colleagues.

If you have a look on ebay you can get a 30 piece inch & metric set for £5. Comes in very handy. 381001223071

Hey, hey! Turns out I bought exactly that same thing, but without the brand name on it, for a stupidly low 4 quid on Amazon! Thanks for your post though.

Me too. You can never have too many tools (although I suspect Ruth doesn't agree).

Sometimes I find that things are simply out of spec so it's just a case of sticking whichever fits. Often you know it's metric but the next size up imperial works better. Sometimes one from a torx kit works better - just a bit of luck which fits!
Alternatively get a slither of something down the side of an allen key a size too small. I've some snapped feel guages I've sacrificed before.

I finally got my Zeta counterweight dismantled.....don't ask why it took so long, just take it from me that I now own a lot of allan keys and some 3/32 ones which have rounded off corners, due to being made from monkey metal. I'm now rather annoyed to discover that one of the weights is completely missing from the shell. It's the thin one in the image below. I shall have to sort out some sort of alternative.
