This is the second release from Those Who Ride with Giants This basically a Australian composing the material I only discovered this a few months ago but loves how he mixes post rock with a a sense of contemporary classical minimalism

I like the music, and would be pleased to hear more of it. But most of the overdubbed noises and sounds are a big turn off for me - trendy but irritating, distracting and pointless.
4 for the music 1 for the misguided production. So a generous 3 from me, I doubt I'd come back tbh because of the idiot noises they've added on. They should have more faith in the music.
Edit : Oops, I made a small (actually, gigantic) but important error here, see my later post!!

I can't find it on Qobuz, John, so going to have to listen differently using Spotify and my PC system.

I quite like this. The 'extras' obviously didn't annoy me as much as jandl100! I gave it a 4 and hope to be back with more thoughts after a few more listens.

I switched to Spotify Connect mode on the big system after listening to three tracks on the PC system. It has a nice flow to it, obviously classically influenced and nicely easy to listen to. Some lovely textures in The Guardians of the Deepness.
I'll give it 4/5 as I'm going to listen to more of their music.

Found it on Tidal and have been listening and it makes for fairly nice background, but to be honest it is otherwise completely forgettable for me and I doubt I'll bother listen to anything else by them. Can't manage any more than a 2 I'm afraid.

For me the extras adds some dissonance to the music and quite enjoy the contrast it creates

Can't manage any more than a 2 I'm afraid. That's about what I'd expected - your musical tastes are on a totally different planet! I'll try again later now I've taken on board John's comment about the idiot noises adding dissonance.

Whoops. This is a bit embarrassing. Seems like I was listening to the wrong album. Previously, I had the self titled album on, released 2014, with the big guy peeking from over the distant hills on the album cover. Listening now to Numinous (2016). Much, much better all round imo. Very impressed. Probably the best non classical new album I've heard since London Grammar 1. - not that I listen to many, but I usually at least sample the TAS bi-monthly choices. No stupid noises at all, apart from the crackling on the final track. And those effects that are there are supportive of the music. Y'all must have wondered what I was blathering on about! Absolutely a rock solid 4 for me now, at least, maybe a 5. And I'll be back, but not to the 2014 album! Thanks, John! Edit: I'll give it 5.

Great news I must admit I could only hear any noise on the first track I am glad you like it Jerry. It does have a strong classical feel to it.

Perhaps not so much so - it looks like John's embedded Spotify link may be to the album you first played Jerry, and not the one that's the subject of the thread.

Aha, well spotted, Chris.
Maybe I'm not quite as much of a numpty as I'd thought!

Good album , right up my street as I like Mogwai , GSYBE , Exposions in the Sky etc , where it differs is that it doesn't have any of the heavy crescendos , which is a bit refreshing as sometimes they can be a bit overbearing on albums by the afore mentioned bands . Strong 4/5 .

Yup. Liked that, and +1 for all of the references Barry mentioned. I did half expect a Transformer-era Lou Reed to come in on vocals on track three though.
4/5 from me.
