Just checked out Qubuz because of this thread. I don’t see from the description the difference between studio premiere and sublime. Are all the subscriptions no strings attached?

Just checked out Qubuz because of this thread. I don’t see from the description the difference between studio premiere and sublime. Are all the subscriptions no strings attached? Qobuz Studio is what I use - unlimited streaming of all resolutions up to 24/192. Superb quality because, as they claim, they don't mess with the master files in any way. Qobuz Sublime is for those who want to download and keep local files.

Just to clarify, Sublime gives you a discount on purchasing files from Qobuz plus all of the advantages of Studio. I do but a lot of files, but mainly from HiResAudio.com (HRA) even though I have a sublime account. Partly this is because HRA have a smaller catalogue (mainly it seems due to their quality auditing process delaying additions, and rejecting 'pseudo' high resolution files), but also because most of the time the meta-data from Qobuz needs to be tweaked (sometimes by a lot) and I'm too lazy to do it it!

From a purely selfish point of view, I sincerely hope they don't fold. I use their free app quite often when checking out tracks and albums that I'm thinking about purchasing. Also, not being a "streamer" myself it's often my only practical way of listening to the monthly album choices here.

Spotify stock is having a bad year like many but still has a market cap of over $42b - it is concerning that they seem to be taking us for granted but would still be very strange for them not to keep going.

Yes I guess some kind of takeover could be on the cards.

I don't want Qobuz to fall into other hands. I hope they can remain independent.

I'm trialling Apple music at the moment, all at least 16/44, free for 3 months..
Result so far; Catalogue not quite as varied. Some of the nice remastered tracks that are on Qobuz / Spotify are missing.
First impressions, app on Android, I signed up, created a playlist, then couldn't sign in again later! The error varied between "your connection is bad" - clearly not, to "this offer is no longer available"!
Contacted their chat support. Got asked which Android version? 5 minutes later it was working again..
Doesn't fill you with confidence.

I'm not in a rush to leave Spotify - the Premium family subscription works very well for us and I get all the music I want from it.

Any article I see on Spotify hifi is just clickbait - there's nothing really new to say ...
