I was very tempted to put this in the "What made me laugh today," thread. A 2Tb SSD USB 3 drive for the grand total of £27.95 (including p&p) after discounts on Wish.com. The spec is all over the place, it even gives a "speed" of 5400 RPM. Oh, and it can ONLY be formatted as an exFAT drive according to the ad. I have no idea what I've actually ordered, As it's a little SSD I cant even repurpose it as a doorstop if it's duff. At that price, I couldn't resist it though. If I can get it working I'll probably use it as an exclusive scratch disk for Photoshop. It arrives between the 14th and the 24th of December, in theory. www.wish.com/product/5f3c0229ccb62a4870435cc5?share=web

Check its capacity. The Chinese are notorious for making very cheap USB sticks and SD cards that don't have the claimed capacity. Maybe they do the same for SSDs.
Mind you, it does spin at 5400 RPM, LOL!

TBH I got it as a sort of "joke" Christmas present for myself. If it works it'll actually be a bonus, on top of what I'm actually expecting. Checking the size, pre and post formatting is definitely on the agenda.

Many of the infographics are short of the 'info' bit! I like the one which shows a Huawei logo - yeah, right!

Actually, where does it say SSD? You sure it's not a micro HDD?

There's also a Windows logo with the text "windows XP" below it, but further down, in the text, it states specifically that it won't work with XP.

Yes you are undoubtedly letting the Chinese secret service into your home.
Next thing you know you'll be strapped to a chair in a scene like 'Total Recall'.

I bought a Huawei tablet ages ago, they already know quite as much about me as they're ever likely to want to.

Why do you think they sent you that advert for a dodgy SSD?!

You're already downgrading it to 2Tb from 2TB. Then add the fudge factor and specs in base something unknown arithmetic and you'll have around 16 bits of storage!

For an SSD drive it certainly kicks out a lot of vibration, and then there was that *clicking/ticking* noise when I first connected it... The Hardware ID shows it to be an old Seagate drive, so at least the "Spindle Speed 5400" was correct, (but SATA 150? I could post a letter and it would arrive before my data.) but it's in a very nice tin box. I went back to Wish to leave a snarky review. and lo-and-behold, there is now NO MENTION of it being an SSD drive anywhere in the item description. I left a snarky review anyway. For under £30.00 I'm not going to chase it, I really haven't got the energy at the moment. Oh, I forgot to mention, Windoze insists that it needs formatting before I can use it. So far Disk Manager, EaseUS Partition Manager, and MiniTool Partition Wizard have all failed to achieve this little task. It's not even heavy enough for a door stop.

Some you win, some you lose.... I wasn't really expecting much, and I pretty much got what I expected, Mike.
