I'm looking to make my own turntable isolation for my turntable as I have wooden floorboards and the sideboard pick ups Every foot step. I have a granite chopping board and a bamboo chopping board. Which should I use? Now do I buy Sonic design damping feet or buy a pack of Squash balls cut them in half and use those? Or any other ideas? Thanks

Whatever you end up using, make sure it can be properly levelled. After a lot of experiments, I have bamboo on top of granite shelves, sitting on a stone fireplace hearth. This is what I use for my Goldring G99 turntable. For the Gyrodec, I found the bamboo didn't make the same difference, so the deck just sits on the granite shelf.

Thanks, thought I would have both options but granite seems the better as very dence. Just a matter of Squash balls or sonic design damping feet.

I used Deflex Superpods under a very heavy granite platform and they certainly did a good job.

For a turntable, you need a heavy shelf and soft damped springs or absorbent material.
