Hello all,
Just to introduce myself: I am a born-again audiophile from Cambridgeshire. I restarted the hobby 2 years ago with a home demonstration by local company "Analogue Seduction" of my entry-level system:
CD Transport: Audiolab 6000CDT
Amplifier: Audiolab 6000A
Speakers: Revel Concerta2 M16
This system gave a whole new impetus to rediscover my CD collection. The system was a big improvement on my 20 year old Cambridge Audio system. With an added streamer (Cocktail Audio X100 Pro) and a Qobuz subscription I ventured out in discovering many new disks.
My music tastes are varied:
Jazz, World, Classical piano
I have set on a quest to tweak my system so currently I am running:
Audiolab 6000CDT -> Schiit Bifrost 2 DAC -> Unison Research Unico P Amp -> Revel M16
Fancy power cables
Isotek Gii Vision 6 Mains Conditioner
Ricable Magnus RCA interconnect
So far I have been lucky with my upgrade purchases, each making a significant contribution to improving the sound in my system: more clarity, deeper bass.
The Revel M16 speakers need some power so I also purchased a classic Philips Black Tulip AH22380 power amp from a friendly TAS member, John.
The Philips has been in my system for a while and really brought me back to the 1980-ies. Another interesting purchase has been the Sugden Stemfoort SF-100 amp.
Also a classic and a whole new level of clarity and detail. It needs a small repair though.
My focus is very much on trying to understand how things work and trying to repair things myself. Hence my current hobbies include: Raspberry Pi, repairing / rebuilding motorcycles, repairing appliances, installing a new kitchen... I have some electronics training and am tempted to try and build a valve amplifier kit.
I was attracted to this forum in particular because its small scale, the interest in a variety of music styles, and interest in other nice things in life (e.g. the Whisky thread ;-)
