Picked up a pair of AR 4XA at the car boot sale. £6. But scruffy but whatever
Took them home, worked fine! Sounded ok...
They had tape on the front though so tried to remove that and cut out a tweeter.
Said duck it and threw them in the bin. Lasted maybe 5\6 minutes.

They can actually be very good when working ok. I've just given a pair away. But can quite understand throwing them away. The original tweeters are rare as hen's teeth.
Reminds me of my shortest lived car. Way back (80's) someone sold me a Cortina for about £25, Mechanic picked it and got it working, I drove it for less than 400 yards, immediately gave it to the mechanic and walked away.

Ah, the perfect box on wheels.
Crap when it was new, let alone now.

I loved our Marina.
It was a coupe in dark red and the closest thing to a sports car we ever had!!

But just imagine the pride of executive ownership Edward - this could have been you! It was a mk1 "ban the bomb" Cortina. Your picture is of the Mk3 which was then "state of the art".

Blimey I remember the first one of them I saw. Day before official launch - at school. Headmaster was an Essex boy and must have had a contact in Dagenham

Not tilted the tannoys yet, I did query the q acoustics in the bedroom though.. Can't blame not having enough time, that weighs kind of heavy, was calculating how much scotch I might need to disappear under a duvet with it till this lot's over.
