Just time to squeeze another selection in for September? I've never heard of this current Russian composer before, I was led to this album by an enthusiastic review in Fanfare. Fairly bowled over by it. He could have done a Schubert 8th on it and just kept with just the first two movements ... well, maybe that's a bit harsh. See what you think. Influences that I hear are Sibelius, Bruckner, John Williams, Schubert and a happy Alla Pavlova. It's an easy listen, don't expect to be challenged by it! open.qobuz.com/album/fxfcti42h0xjb

Very nice, Jerry. I'll add Greig to your list of influences; indeed one section veered awfully close to "Morning," albeit fairly briefly. A solid 4/5 I wasn't quite so keen on the Capriccio.
I would not have guessed that he is Russian.

I agree that the language is not particularly Russian. It's more in the German Romantic tradition. There's a little English in there, too (Vaughan Williams?)
Just about makes a 4/5 from me.

Thoroughly enjoyable!
There's more than a touch of 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' in there too ...
It does need some judicious editing as Jerry said - less would have been more.
4/5.

ajski2fly Adrian, you should join in the fun with some of these. Cheers Jerry, I will give them a go, although I am not sure my critiqué or classical experience is up to that much.
