stellabagpuss Damien, if you are sufficiently interested in testing the ifi 'filter', PM me your address and I'll send it to you. I can assure you I won't be wanting it back!

I can assure you I won't be wanting it back! 🤣 l'll leave that department to yourself... l only used the ifi as an example, and for those that are interested.. lt backs up what your hearing, and what what the LHY dosent detect... l don't doubt your ears...at all.

The second Kemp SNS arrived and is working a treat as I’d hoped.

Great result Matt, l bet if you took away the filters, it would result in a big backwards step.

Great result Matt, l bet if you took away the filters, it would result in a big backwards step. I might try that someday. I’d thought about removing the ground boxes too and seeing how it all sounds, but haven’t done it as it could confirm my madness.

The system is sounding really good today with the new Kemp SNS.
Better dynamics, more alive and leading edges even more pronounced.

These Kemps sound like a great investment

Well good day campers.. So here are my results... And we are good to go 🤣 l plugged in the LHY and set it as close to 100, it does fluctuate, from 80 to 115. The most striking thing.... It was picking BBC Radio 5 on 693khz, mixing with mains noise, l actually caught the news on the hour 🤣. My take away from this, being that l'm 6 miles away from the Droitwich mast, which l can see from the top if our village, the signal most be being carried over the overhead lines,as l live in a rural location. l then went up to Cabin, and then repeated the process, and this time l also had a commercial station mixing in with mains noise and Radio 5. Out come the Filters, firstly I plug in a DIY plug in filter l made back in 2006, l don't actually have any specs, and l copied the design via the Internet, but l always found they had a small but noticeable improvement, truth be told ,l made two units, and place them either side of my NUC, blind use really, plugged in next to the socket l had a reading of of 5.7 The Radio stations had nearly gone, very faint, where this isn't a great result on the MartinT scale it's an improvement. Next l then simply plugged a 6 way Tacima Mains Block, the reading on its on 4.8 l also tried adding my DIY socket into the Tacima block, that made no difference. Lastly and l know, Matt is keen for the readings on this one, l plugged the LHY into my Puritan PSM 156 LHY reading from Puritan PSM 156 by Damien Read, on Flickr Amazing a reading of 0.8 that would occasionally go to 0.9. l then deployed the other tested filters on spare sockets in the listening area, and then managed to get a solid 0.8 reading. As basic as the LHY meter is, l have to say l had great fun using this. l personally think a purchase of a Kemp SNS would yield lower results, the LHY also displays the importance of sheilding cables, although its a big ask, as the LHY is acting like a radio.

Thanks for doing the test Damien, really interesting results, particularly picking up the radio. I believe MartinT also could hear Radio stations at his end, effectively the LHY covers the MW band, it has a speaker... The mains cables, l guess act as,an antenna.

Really shows the need to address the mains for a Hifi system lt does Matt... If we had better test gear, we get more accurate results and figures on what frequencies the filters are working or not working on.

Damien, could you hear differences or did you not make any changes? That first 'hit' closest to mains power in seems very important.

Damien, could you hear differences or did you not make any changes? That first 'hit' closest to mains power in seems very important. Yes system sounding great, l don't have enough filters to cover my building yet... Hence needing to get some Kemps, I can't say l've noticed a difference, but the Puritan has such a positive effect on the music, with a base line of 0.8 to 0.9 to start with. l also will be doing a another test, later,by plugging the Tacima in at the house, where the mains comes in, then using the LHY at the cabin end, which is about 25 metres away. It will be interesting to see if the Tacima is effective from that distance. Something else that l have wondered, if the cheap lead supplied with the LHY is acting like an antenna.
