I do agree Ali, I was trying to put right an apparent slur on those in here who DO know a thing or two. Returning to dismissive mode...

I have a push pull amp (home built) using a pair of double tetrodes, the 832a.
On this valve the cathode is common to both halves (of each valve) and on my version instead of a cathode resistor I have a CCS (constant current source).
I am reliably informed that working in this configuration the amp can ONLY work in class A. Output would probably be about 4-5 watts per channel.
It is a shame when self confessed experts make statements that are best misleading, or just plain incorrect.

The rare 1960's Trio 'Supreme 1' multi channel amp. Mega expensive back then.. Only ever seen one on auction that had my name written all over it till i noticed the damage to the facia that i could never have lived with

You should have said, I expect I could have lived with it!

Not that it's particularly rare, but I recently acquired a first gen Alchemist Kraken. Lovely little amp, and yes, it's Class A! :-)

That's all I need. :-)
Runs the mid and top in my active speakers (approx 94db/w/m) - from 200Hz up, so I doubt it ever uses more than a couple of watts.

Do you know, I linked to the same pic as you and it broke this morning so I re-made it and it ended up being a different model!! I'll delete mine.

Wow, you don't see one come up very often. Much as the preamp is excellent, I'll not be parting with $10k for one. It's the power amps that are incredibly rare too, and very, very good from what I remember.

Just for a day or two, I'd love to get my hands on a pair of ESS AMT-6 Professional speakers (and the necessary bigger room!) - 2 x 12" woofers and 4 x air motion transformer tweeters.

Yes, but...
they look like a pair of JBL 250Ti in the background. Lust!

That arm is so highly engineered that it's the first linear tracker to make me really want one!

Chunky beast, eh?! The tt has an interesting (early?) inverted bearing which is just below the platter - the lower one in this diagram.

Acoustic Research / Rowan AR MGC-1These super rare beasties rather appeal to my sensibilities and I lusted after them in the 1980s. So, as you can imagine, I was rather excited this morning to find a pair of them on Ebay for sale in the Midlands. Sadly though, in addition to the expected refoam job, they're also missing several key parts - namely the foam (not such a big problem) but, more importantly, the controller box which allows you to dial in the output level of the side drivers. This is the thing that would have made them usable in the weirdly asymmetrical layout of my room. They would have made a rather fantastic Christmas present to myself!

Surely you could make a replacement controller box?
