Got this for nowt as part of a deal. Was a bit ... rough ... when I first tried it... crackly, didn’t like being touched, screechy(my Mrs springs to mind here) but I opened it up,cleaned it and gave the controls a blast with contact cleaner. Took about 2/3 lots of use but it’s come right on song now! Seems either very powerful(think it’s only 40wpc) or it seems to have a lot of headroom. It sounds excellent in a neutral way,not adding much except when you use the tone controls that are subtle but good. It carries a soft clipping feature which I expect is a bit of a gimmick but I use it anyway. Plenty inputs, easy to add a power amp, headphone socket too. Worth having if you see one cheap.

Love the price Does your Mrs frequent this little forum ? Good kit NAD from what I know I might give a cheap bit of kit an internal clean. Would have to be feeling brave though !

I would be switching the soft clipping button out Chris. It's the 'Does this amp go up to 11?' switch. Only for parties.

^ Yup, I was about to post that. It generally softens the sound so it's more difficult to overdrive it.
Then again, you might like it that way! It's worth trying without the soft clip, though.

I've played with similar NAD amplifiers, they usually do have good sound.
Have you tried contact cleaner on your Mrs?

Think I’d need silver plated industrial strength contact cleaner...
Easy enough and low risk cleaning up inside stuff mate...cotton buds, contact cleaner and a little acetone come in handy. S/H stuff is usually a mess inside.
Made a difference here that’s for sure!
