Well, they've had their three warnings. I bet there have been some interesting discussions with insurance assessors.
I've never understood mankind's fascination for building cities and towns close to volcanos, it's not as if we are ignorant of the danger. Take Naples for example: Which bright spark thought, 'aha, this is a good location for a city'. The grizzly fate of Herculaneum and Pompeii is there for all to see after all.
