Looking at the Post Office's prosecution of Postmasters for cash going missing after the adoption of a new computer system.
Been listening to this serialised on the radio. The Post Office's behaviour from start to finish was nothing less than atrocious. Saying that cash going missing wasn't possible with the system, ignoring information to the contrary and hiding it, drawing the case out and trying to overturn the first case (it was split up into about 5 individual prosecutions) won against them on the grounds that the judge wasn't being impartial. They agreed on a settlement (can't remember how much now) but after lawyers fees it only left £12 million to go to the Postmasters, which equated to about £20,000 for each. Which didn't even cover what they had lost in earnings. Not to mention prison sentences some had been given. And it wouldn't have come to light if it hadn't have been for the persistence of a journalist determined to expose it.

I read a piece on that this morning. What happened was absolutely disgusting, not to mention illegal I believe.

I was appalled at what I heard on the radio over the last couple of weeks about this.

THe only time in my life that I have sat in my car for a LONG time engine turned off as I was so saddened by what I was hearing, radio programme all about the above, someone should be in prison from the post office for what happened, nothing less would do.
Total disgrace.

I had to go and research this as I knew nothing about it at all. Shocking.

I've followed it. Been on R4, perhaps even You and Yours.
Have seriously thought of alternatives to P.O.
Trouble is the local Post Masters and Mistresses are great and deserve our support. They provide a great service to rural and urban communities.
P.O CEO 👿👿👿, Fujitsu 👿👿, Police not investigating (where's the money, the smoking gun?)👿
That CEO is right up there, even above Talktalk's!

It would seem that way, Steve. Let's hope she will yet be brought to account for her deceitful defense of the Post Office's shite software and cover-up.

The P.O did the prosecutions. Had their own legal team, who knew the deceit. The police were not involved. No need to find the money then. Just lie that it was missing, and keep lying and lying.
It's just disgusting - again!
