Struggling to get the same volume on my db meter comparing CD/Pre and CD with separate Pre It is convoluted as the CD player is set to max when feeding the separate Pre. The Pre resets itself after every standby
Current thought - I want a track that starts at a consistent volume - on a CD I own
Do you have a better way ?
What about it you don't have a db meter ?

Try pink noise and set the volume the same on a dB meter both times. Pink noise is wideband noise with equal energy across the spectrum so is better than using a single tone. You can get pink noise from a test CD or Spotify.
If you don't have a dB meter, use a phone app.

10 hours of it should suffice!
