This is a very entertaining video from the excellent Two Step Violin boys, giving you an idea about what skills are required to play some of the most legendarily difficult violin works.
Some of the techniques required here are completely mind-bending! My jaw hit the floor a number of times.
No surprise to see Mr Vengerov, the technical master, popping up in this film. Such a shame we won't get to see him doing his thing at the RAH in June.

Thanks for that, Jules. Thoroughly enjoyable, although some of their attempts should come with a health warning. ⚠ Vengerov is still the "King" for me.

Fascinating - makes me realise quite how astonishing the top players are.

Fascinating - makes me realise quite how astonishing the top players are. Absolutely - it's one thing to be even able to play these pieces and it's another to be able to make them sound effortless ... And to have the nerve and confidence to get up on a stage to do it!

That Locatelli is sheer cruelty, like some kind of endurance test for a violinist - it should be timed in APM - Arpeggios Per Minute!
You can see why he called it the Labyrinth -
“Laberinto armonico: 'Facilis aditus; difficilis exitus.'" "Harmonic Labyrinth: Easy to enter; difficult to escape!"
