New season and this one could be another close finish I think it is Between City and Chelsea with Arsenal being dark horses. I think a lot harder for Liverpool and Man U should do better this year but have not strengthened enough for me to win it

After walking out of The Etihad Stadium, shaking my head and muttering summat about kissing that one goodbye, following the rescheduled home game against Sunderland I'm loathe to predict anything! I couldn't have predicted Liverpool mentally collapsing following the defeat to Chelsea.
I'm really looking forward to the start of this season - City will do well, and we've done some good business on the transfer market and are stronger for it. We should hopefully manage to successfully defend out title this time around.
Manyoo will do OK, and gain some advantage by not having to play any European games of any sort this season. They have someone in charge who is capable of turning around their dismal fortunes of last season. Chelsea - they'll be there or thereabouts all season, as will Arsenal (their shot in the arm from winning the FA Cup will be immense). Both of these teams are proper contenders.
Liverpool may do well following the buying spree they've undertaken since offloading that headcase Suarez, but I'm not so sure. They'll be there or somewhere near.
Predictions for this weekend - Newcastle 1, Man City 3 - bit of a bummer with this being away for us, but it's only 8 days further until our first home game this season, and that's against Liverpool, so that should be a good hard game.
I also think that Burnley could manage a shock result on Monday night - I'm looking forward to it almost as much as the Newcastle v MCFC game

Looks like it's thee and me alone on this thread John!
First game down, 37 to go, and no great surprises. Manyoo losing their first home game this season has given them a knockback. They'll recover, but it was nice to see! Your team doesn't win just because your name is Louis van Gaal, there's lots of hard work to get things right.
I'm optimistic about Burnley's chances of staying up this season, if they can consistently play like they did last night. Chelsea are going to beat most teams in front of them this season, so last night's result came as no great surprise.

I tried to stay out of this thread , as you may be aware that I support Oldham , want Arsenal to win the premiership and hate Man City with a vengeance due to the fact they are funded by slavery and epitomise all that is wrong with Football .
Burnley will go down , Costa is a waste of money and if Chelsea win the title it will be thanks to Fabregas .

Perhaps it's better if you don't contribute to this thread.

It would have been better if City fans had kept their sole and said we don't want success at any cost , even Man Utd [ who I do hate because i am bitter and twisted thanks to mark hughes injury time equaliser in the 1990 fa cup semi final ] protested against the glaisers

It would have been better if City fans had kept their sole and said we don't want success at any cost , even Man Utd [ who I do hate because i am bitter and twisted thanks to mark hughes injury time equaliser in the 1990 fa cup semi final ] protested against the glaisers If you pulled your head out from up your own backside then you'd get a much clearer idea of what happened in Salford! The Manyoo supporters you seem to have so much respect for were protesting because the Glazers effectively forced them to sell their shares in the club. As it happens the entire supporters share allotment combined was insufficient to prevent the Glazers doing what they did, so at least the Glazers gave everyone the option to sell up at a knockdown price. That the Glazers managed to buy the club with someone else's money is one story that beggars belief. The only Manyoo supporters you should really respect are the ones who went off and started their own club - they are in the process of building a new ground not far from where my mother lives, which coincidentally can't be more than a mile away from where Manchester United started up, as the Newton Heath branch of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. City have never floated on the Stock Exchange, so have been a private limited company for a very long time, as have the vast majority of football clubs. Control of the club has changed hands quite a few times in recent decades, but possibly the strangest time was when Thaksin Shinawatra was in control of the club. When he had little option but to sell his interests because of the authorities in his home country froze his assets the one really great thing he did was to talk to the Sheikh and ask if he was interested in buying the club. Thankfully the Sheikh did buy the club, and financial stability has been with us ever since, albeit with a huge investment from our Arab owners. The flip side is that since the Sheikh took over City as a club have made huge gains in revenues, and are running at around the break even point. Now I certainly haven't sold my soul during the last change of club ownership - I'm still a City supporter, and I will be 'til I last draw breath I am enjoying the ride, and expectations are high. Of possibly greater interest and importance than what the Premier League team does is the new Academy site, and the prospect of developing young players properly and them making it through the ranks to become regular first team players. As it happens I'm off to see our U21 side tonight, where they're playing Shalke 04's U21s - the venue is Hyde FC, a lower league club that has benefited enormously from the relationship they have with Manchester City. Other local clubs, including Oldham Athletic have benefited with their relationship with Manchester City too - I have memories of 'Latics knocking Liverpool out of the FA Cup in 2013, and one of the Oldham goalscorers was Reece Wabara who was on loan from Manchester City. Just in case you weren't aware of the new Academy site I've included this video - things are near to completion, and I'm looking forward to attending games there.

Yep all funded by slavery and the money of an abhorrent royal family regime . Truly makes you proud . If I'd a been a city supporter I would have switched allegiance to utd . Democratic capitalism is preferable to slavery .

I used to have a season ticket for Crystal Palace back in the 90's and have followed their ups and downs ever since from more of a distance.
Still reeling from Pulis walking out a few days ago. I now hear that Malky Mackay is about to be appointed - whoever would have guessed that given his connection with Moody?? I'm sure he'll do as he is told and be a good boy. I thought Parish was looking for a proven Premiership track record - Mackay is a huge step down from Pulis in this regard - apparently he has a 22% win record in the Premier League. Can't say I'm excited about the appointment in the least!

I enjoyed the first week results pretty much as expected Utd did badly the first week Seems like they finally buying players I personally think Costa a good signing for Chelsea he plays a very similar style as Drogba and Fabregas was a smart move. Still think City has the strongest squad and Arsenal will be close too. I have no idea why Palace came to a mutral agreement with Pulis I think it be very hard for them no matter who they get and fear for Burnley. Not sure who else will go down with them
