Borrowed from Paul McGowan, PS Audio
What would happen if we framed the age-old question of measurements vs. subjectivity differently?
Instead of stating what we cannot do—if you can’t measure it it doesn’t exist
—why not ask—what can we do differently to measure that which we hear?

I would say that the most enlightened researchers are already doing that and stepping closer to an understanding of measurements that reflect listening.
EMI/RFI, ground plane noise, intermodulation of vastly different frequencies are just the ones I know about.
I'm afraid that good old THD just doesn't cut it and is practically meaningless for evaluating sound quality.
